About
Ophthalmic & Medical Imaging
William Milam founded Angionet, Inc. in California in 1984, building on more than a decade of experience in ophthalmic imaging. His career began in 1972 at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, where he worked alongside some of the most respected surgeons of the era.

In 1978, he became Head of Photography at the University of Southern California’s Doheny Eye Institute. He later continued his academic work as an Associate Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Arizona, contributing to both clinical imaging and medical education.

Technical Design & Fabrication
During the early 1970s at Bascom Palmer, Milam faced a major technical challenge: four Zeiss ophthalmic cameras, each with incompatible film backs. When one failed, the entire camera became unusable. Working with engineer Willie Aumeyer, he redesigned the system to use Nikon backs — dramatically improving reliability and workflow.
Digital Conversion & Innovation
In 1999, Angionet partnered with Robert Hodson of Trioptron, Inc. to convert Kowa film‑based cameras to the new Nikon D1 digital platform. By 2000, Angionet had fully transitioned to digital diagnostics and launched a secure website for remote physician access — years ahead of industry standards.
Graphic Design & Publication
From the beginning, Milam recognized the power of digital media for creating and presenting visual content. Angionet has continually invested in web‑based platforms, ensuring clients receive modern, high‑quality visual communication tools.

Engineering, Fabrication & Custom Solution
Beyond imaging, Milam has designed and fabricated specialized equipment for ophthalmic practices, research labs, and surgical environments. His work blends engineering precision with practical clinical needs.
Corporate & Clinical Support
Angionet has supported ophthalmologists, clinics, and research institutions for decades — providing imaging, design, digital systems, and technical solutions tailored to the evolving needs of modern eye care.
A Lifelong Commitment to Visual Excellence
Across five decades, William Milam’s work has combined photography, engineering, design, and digital innovation. Angionet continues to reflect that commitment to clarity, precision, and visual excellence.
